Football Player Radar: Josh Martin (DE) Free Agent

In our “Football Player Radar” Series we highlight promising players that are flying below the radar.

Josh Martin is a talented football player who can play multiple positions including DE, LB and Punter. Josh currently plays for the Selma City Vikings and shows an aggressive style in rushing the pass and stopping the run. In 2017, he played for the Midstate Vikings who won the APDFL-East Division championship. Josh has intuitive football instincts and a willingness to learn and develop as a player.

Q&A with Josh Martin

Q: What is the fondest memory of your college career and/or pro career?

When we played against the Greater Pensacola Jets I hit the quarterback so hard that he left the game and my helmet busted.

Q: What was your best game in college or pro?

When we played against West Alabama Rams. We had lost but it was a close game 6 to 8 and we went into two overtimes.

Q: What was your favorite NFL team growing up?

Dallas Cowboys and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Q: Who was your favorite NFL player?

Barry Sanders and Ray Lewis

Q: Which current NFL player most resembles you?

J.J Watt

Q: What would your former teammates say about you?

Hard worker, smart, fast and quick power.

Q: What are you presently doing as far as training?

Sprints drills hit the gym before I go to work and on my off days and I’m also currently playing semi pro.

Q: What is your favorite Combine drill?

Q: What do you need to do to take your football career to the next level?

To Get more quicker and be more physical.

Q: What would be your pitch to NFL scouts?

Well I been playing semi pro for like 6 to 7 years I demand the double team on every game I played. Also off the field i keep in touch the trouble youth to teach them about life sports and their school work.

Q: What do you want to do besides football?

Graphic designer and mechanic.

Q: What do you like to do for fun?

Play video games, having lunch with the family and spoiling my daughter.

Q: If you could have dinner with any three people, deceased or alive, who would they be?

My deceased grandma because I didn’t see her when she past away and my family said that she had ask about me numerous of time but I never showed up so she had past. Secondly, it would be Ray Lewis because I know I can learn a lot from him like power and smartness. Last but not least Deion Sanders because I want to know how prime-time became prime-time and would he change anything.
